Feyenoord vs Ajax dominates the Dutch football betting for the ninth round of Eredivisie fixtures — and both teams desperately need victory on Sunday!
Feyenoord and Ajax both won last weekend to pile the pressure on league leaders Eindhoven at the top of the table.
It’s taken eight weeks but finally the Dutch division is shaping up as football betting experts predicted at the start of the season.
We look set for a three-horse race at the top for the title, while there’s a pool collecting in the relegation spots at he bottom.
Bet on Feyenoord vs Ajax
This is a huge figure for both clubs, with Eindhoven set to benefit whatever happens. Eindhoven are five points ahead of both Feyenoord and Ajax on 21 points from eight games. If one of these sides wins then the worst that can happen to Eindhoven is the gap is cut to two points.
Defending champions Feyenoord and their opponents Ajax are equally priced in the football betting odds at 8/5 to win. The draw is priced at 5/2 and that’s a tempting bet. But, considering Feyenoord have home advantage in this one, the Rotterdam clubs should been seen as favourites for the win.
Feyenoord’s star striker Nicolai Jørgensen is back from a hamstring injury, although he was unable to help his side score in the 0-0 draw with Zwolle last weekend. Jørgensen is likely to be rested for Feyenoord’s Europa League match against Shakhtar Donetsk, which is another bonus heading into Sunday’s game.
As for Ajax, they don’t have Europe to worry about and head into this fixture having smashes Sparta 4-0 at home — a repeat of the result against Heerenveen the week before. David Neres boasts three goals in two game and is worth backing to find the net in De Kuip on Sunday.
Bet on Eredivisie
Away from Sunday’s big game, Eindhoven have what should be a routine home match against Heracles to take care of. Heracles’ early-season form has waned and they have slipped to 13th in the division. They’ve lost three of their last five games but last week were denied three points against Vitesse when conceding with three minutes remaining in a 1-1 draw. That was only the fifth time Heracles have been leading all season. They don’t usually collapse if they do take the lead but against Eindhoven there’s surely only one winner here, at 1/5.
AZ vs Utrecht on Sunday is another tantalising fixture, with both teams on 13 points and in position to potentially challenge with the top three. However, AZ are winless in three games (LLD) and Utrecht won last weekend for the first time since early September, so an away win here at 11/5 isn’t a bad shout.
If you’re a football betting fan chasing the big odds, meanwhile, then look no further than Twente vs Roda. Neither side have performed well so far this season. Twente look like they’re having another disappointing campaign, while Roda are doing exactly as expected. They’ve both won just two of eight games, losing the other side.
Yet Roda have suddenly found a spark. Their two wins have come in the last fortnight, with a 2-1 result at Sparta followed up by a 1-0 beating of NAC. Confidence is high in the camp. Twente have also started winning (WLWL from their last four games) but are struggling to string results together. They are at least keeping things tight. If you’re chasing big odds then back Roda to win at 17/4. If you want even bigger odds, Roda win 1-0 is priced at 15/1.
