Women's world championship 2023 Betting

When is the women's world championship? Where is the women's world championship 2023 being held? How do I watch and bet on the Women’s world championship? All your questions will be answered right here, as we dive into everything you need to know about the upcoming women's world championship.

Women's world championship History

Who won the women's world championship in 2019? Who has the most titles to their name? Who’s destined for great things at this world championship, and who will be most likely to crash out?

Despite only being officially established in 1991, the women's world championship has a rich and storied history. The United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) has dominated the competition ever since its conception, winning a record 4 World Championships in 5 finals. Their last victory came in 2019, which makes them the current holders and the team to beat.

As for England, their recent performances spark more hope than their not-so-glorious past. While never a terrible team, they didn’t progress beyond the quarter-finals until 2015, a feat they repeated in 2019. And with new found glory at the 2022 Women’s European Championships, the Lionesses can be confident of going far in Australia and New Zealand.

Women's world championship Schedule

The Women’s World Championship is due to begin on 20 July and reach its thrilling conclusion exactly one month later. The competition will be the first to host an expanded 32 countries, instead of the previous 24, which means more women's world championship 2023 teams, more games, and more action!

England played their group stage games against Haiti, Denmark, and China on 22 July, 28 July, and 1 August, respectively. After this, you can expect them to play a Round of 16 knockout tie on 7 August, followed by (fingers crossed!) a quarter-final on 12 August. From there, the semis and final beckon, but football is a fickle sport, so nothing is ever certain.

So, what are the matches to look out for in this edition of the 2023 women's world championship?

New Zealand vs Norway (20 July)

The tournament’s opening fixture, New Zealand vs Norway should be electric. New Zealand haven’t enjoyed much success in the last year, losing all but one of their friendlies in 2023, save for a 1-1 draw with Iceland.

As hosts, though, they will want to give their home crowd something to cheer about. Although Norway have traditionally been one of the best sides in women’s international football, their 8-0 thumping from England in last year’s European Championships will give New Zealand hope that they can cause an upset.

England vs Haiti (22 July)

The Lionesses’ first game at the 2023 Women’s World Cup. With no disrespect to a plucky Haitian side that overcame Senegal and Chile in the play-offs to reach the women's world championship for the first time, England should enjoy an easy opening game.

With nearly 50 places separating the two teams in the world rankings, Haiti will have to field something special to beat Sarina Wiegman’s side. Expect lovely finishes from Russo, seamless passes from Stanway, and solid tackling from Greenwood.

USA vs Netherlands (27 July)

Arguably the biggest game of the group stages in terms of quality, world number ones USA face the Netherlands, ranked 9th. This will be the biggest test for the USWNT in the group stages, since Netherlands are no strangers to success.

The Oranje won the 2017 European Championships and reached the final of the last women's world championship in 2019, where they in fact lost to the USWNT. These two won’t have to wait that long to face each other this time, but they’ll both be hoping for a strong performance if they are to go far.

When is the Women's world championship Final?

The Women’s World Championship Final 2023 will be played on 20 August. The top two teams in the world will once again battle it out for eternal glory in the form of the trophy. Can England see off fierce competition to reach the final? Will the USWNT make it to four finals in as many tournaments? Anything can happen in the women's world championship.
