What Are the Odds of the UK Winning Eurovision?

Unibet UK|4 May 2026

It’s time for Eurovision! And 2026 is a big one, as we’re celebrating the Contest’s 70th anniversary. The iconic European song competition takes place in Austria this year, right in the heart of Vienna at the Wiener StadthalleThe Semi-Finals kick off on Tuesday 12th May, with the Grand Final set for Saturday 16th. 35 participants will sing their hearts out for the glass microphone trophy. One of them, as always, is the UK.

Whether you’re heading to the Eurovision Village or planning a big ol’ knees up from the comfort of your sofa, the Eurovision Song Contest offers a fun opportunity for betting novices and experts alike to enjoy a flutter (or simply enjoy the music!). So, if you’re wondering “what are the odds of the UK winning Eurovision?”, keep reading for our top betting tips and predictions.

Who is Going to Represent the UK at Eurovision 2026?

The UK will be represented by YouTuber and former front man of indie rock band ZIBRA, Sam Battle, in the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest.  Also known as LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER, his song “Eins, Zwei, Drei” paints an eccentric picture of someone fed up with the 9-to-5 grind. Instead, he escapes this endless boredom for “another nation” (pretty ironic considering he’s representing the UK this year!).

The tune is incredibly Eurovision-esque, from references to a “slice of pepperoni” to a rattly car flying off the white cliffs of Dover at the music video’s conclusion. How will this translate to the big Vienna stage and the Eurovision 2026 betting odds?

What Are the Odds of the UK Winning Eurovision?

The ‘Big 4’ nations – France, Germany, Italy, and the UK, along with the host country – always skip straight to the Grand Final. This advantage slightly boosts our chances of claiming the Eurovision Song Contest trophy. But what are the odds of the UK winning Eurovision this year?

Here are the UK’s latest odds as the overall winner:

CountryUnibet’s Odds
United Kingdom125/1

Note that Eurovision 2026 betting odds often cover the competition’s two voting stages: jury and tele vote, which combine to crown the overall champion. National music professional juries are assembled by participating broadcasters from each country, while the tele vote is reserved for national audiences. Both award points based on the ranking of these two audiences, with the highest-ranked song receiving 12 points.

The UK’s odds are:

  • Jury Vote: 66/1
  • Tele Vote: 120/1

Britain’s chances in the competition therefore seem pretty slim. However, things often change in the lead-up to the Grand Final, so one of our top Eurovision betting tips this year is to keep your eye on the Unibet Sportsbook for any updates.  Eurovision outcomes are also often unpredictable, with upsets and surprises happening frequently (think 1969’s four winners!).

Memorable UK Entries in the Past

The UK has offered an entry every year since 1959, meaning there are plenty of memorable moments to reflect on:

Cliff Richard – 1968

“Congratulations” is a song often cracked out at birthday parties or big celebrations. It also quickly reached number 1 after being performed by Cliff Richard, and also earned gold certification in the UK. Unfortunately, Cliff controversially lost by just one point to Spain’s “La, la, la” by Massiel.

Sonia – 1993

Liverpool-born Sonia sang eight different songs at the selection show for the 1993 Contest in Ireland. The rock ‘n’ roll-style “Better the Devil You Know” won with a resounding 156,000 votes, and later earned her second place to the host nation’s Niamh Kavanagh.  Sonia was already an established pop star, but this near-Eurovision victory gave her even more success with a good run in the UK Singles Chart and an album of the same name.

Gina G – 1996

“Ooh Aah… Just a Little Bit” placed only eighth in 1996. However, it took the number 1 UK Singles Chart spot eight weeks after its debut, remaining in the charts for a further 27 weeks.  The catchy song also broke into the US Billboard Hot 100 at number 12, something that truly marked its success. There’s no doubt that this was partly thanks to Gina G’s dazzling style choices, which perfectly reflected 90s dance-pop culture.

Sam Ryder – 2022

Here’s one from more recent times, performed by social media star Sam Ryder. He was the most-followed UK musician on TikTok (with 12.3 million followers!) before finding Eurovision fame, only later sacrificing the title to Ed Sheeran.

“Space Man” came second in the nail-biting Turin Grand Final and was the highest charting UK Eurovision entry since Gina G. Ryder’s near-win also helped change perceptions of Eurovision. He attracted the largest British Eurovision TV audience since 2011!

What was the Best UK Performance on Eurovision Ever?

The UK has claimed the title of Eurovision Song Contest winner an impressive 5 times, so it’s difficult to say which of these was the best performance ever.  However, a catchy chorus, strong hook melody, and emotional or powerful vocal performances are crucial components of a Eurovision-winning entry – all of which previous UK winners have had.

The first UK winner was Sandie Shaw in 1967 with “Puppet on a String.” Subsequent wins include:

  • 1969: Lulu, “Boom Bang-a-Bang”
  • 1976: Brotherhood of Man, “Save Your Kisses for Me”
  • 1981: Bucks Fizz, “Making Your Mind Up”
  • 1997: Katrina and the Waves, “Love Shine a Light”

We haven’t had a winner for almost 30 years. Could this be the year the UK beats those Eurovision 2026 betting odds?

Betting Favorites: Top 5 Countries to Win

We may have answered the question “what are the odds of the UK winning Eurovision?”, but what about the other 34 countries set to take part in the 2026 competition? Here’s a run-down of the latest betting odds and song choices for the top 5 nations:

1. Finland

Odds to Win: 6/4

2026’s favourites are Finland. Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen bring “Liekinheitin,” which translates as “Flame thrower,” to the Eurovision stage. Unanimously selected by Finland’s jury and public vote, this song combines rock with classical and dance music elements.

2. Australia

Odds to Win: 6/1

Australia isn’t part of Europe, but has performed ten times in Eurovision since the nation’s 2015 debut. This year’s 5/1 shot is represented by award-winning singer-songwriter, actress, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Delta Goodrem, who will belt out her powerful anthem “Eclipse.”

3. Sweden

Odds to Win: 20/1

Winning the fight amongst 12 Swedish artists is FELICIA with “My System.” The song showcases her unique voice and stage presence, blending techno-house with the classic mellow Europop we know and love. Could she follow in the footsteps of Eurovision global superstars ABBA?

4. Ukraine

Odds to Win: 33/1

Ukraine’s Leléka sings tales of family, belonging, and connection. Her track “Ridnym”, updated specially for Eurovision 2026, echoes these sentiments. It specifically uses Bandura, an instrument heavily symbolic of Ukrainian culture.

5. Czech Republic

Odds to Win: 66/1

At just 23 years old, Daniel Žižka has already cemented his place in the next generation of Czech music, thanks to a mature, yet technically precise and emotional sound. We hear this in “CROSSROADS,” a modern coming-of-age ballad with that traditional Eurovision feel. Not quite sure which country will get your vote this year?
