Player to score – Raheem Sterling (Leeds v Chelsea) 7/4

Raheem Sterling has enjoyed an encouraging start to life at Chelsea, but has yet to score a Premier League goal for his new team. However, Sunday’s encounter against Leeds United should suit the England international and provide him with ample opportunity to find the back of the net for the first time in a Chelsea shirt.

Leeds will be underdogs, but will attempt to impose their own game. This could leave space in behind for Sterling to exploit with Chelsea at their most dangerous when they can take advantage of moments of quick transition. Sterling is the best bet to score for Chelsea over Kai Havertz and Mason Mount who can sometimes lack composure in front of goal.

Player to be carded – Harry Maguire (Man Utd v Liverpool) – 8/5

The start to Manchester United’s season has been difficult enough and now Erik ten Hag’s team face Liverpool in their next Premier League fixture. Fans are fearful of another damaging result. Liverpool’s attacking threat in quick transition has given United problems in the past and it will give them problems again on Monday night.

Harry Maguire has already picked up two bookings this season and his lack of recovery pace could give him issues against the likes of Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah. Some reports claim ten Hag could drop Maguire for Monday’s match against Liverpool, but if the United captain starts he’s a solid bet to gain a yellow card.

Match to be a draw – Real Sociedad v Barcelona – 13/5

Barcelona failed to live up to expectations in their La Liga season opener as they were held to a goalless draw by Rayo Vallecano at the Camp Nou. This weekend’s test promises to be even tougher with Xavi Hernandez’s team at the Anoeta to face Real Sociedad, a side that started their season with a win over Cadiz last weekend.

Goals have been a problem for Barca of late. Indeed, they have failed to find the back of the net in each of their last three league matches and with Robert Lewandowski still finding his feet in his new surroundings there’s no guarantee that this run will end this weekend. La Real stand a good chance of claiming a result.

Both teams to score – Newcastle Utd v Man City (3/4)

Manchester City have started the 2022/23 Premier League season in good form, taking six points from a possible six in matches against West Ham and Bournemouth, scoring six goals and conceding zero in the process. However, Sunday’s trip to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle United will be their toughest test so far.

Newcastle have won eight of their last home matches in the Premier League. There has also been over 2.5 goals in eight of the Magpies’ last 10 matches against City in all competitions. Eddie Howe’s team have failed to score in just once at home in 2022, and that was against Liverpool. They stand a good chance of breaking through the City defence this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur have taken four points from their first two Premier League fixtures of the 2022/23 season and they are strong favourites to claim another three points at home to Wolves on Saturday. Antonio Conte’s team have won seven of their last eight league matches in front of their own fans while Wolves are winless in their last nine games.

Wolves have also conceded at least two goals in each of their last three Premier League matches. Meanwhile, Spurs have scored two or more goals in 12 of their last 15 leagues matches at home. Conte’s team are in good shape with Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Richarlison all contributing early on.
