Jamie Spencer: “Here are my thoughts for the Unibet-sponsored card at Kempton on Wednesday”

1pm:  Never Dark is bred to be better than his mark and I think he has a reasonable chance. He is by No Nay Never out of Dark Missile, who improved with age.  With just four runs under his belt, there is scope for plenty of improvement.

1.35pm: You’re Cool has been competitive off higher marks than this in the past and is a consistent sort, so this course winner could be the answer to an open handicap.

2.10pm: Sun Bear has the pedigree, being out the Irish Oaks winner Great Heavens, and looked an above-average sort at Nottingham when just touched off last season. The wide draw is not ideal on this inside track, but she could have the class to overcome it.

2.45pm: Max Vega has the best form having won the Zetland Stakes in good style, winning on soft ground over 1m2f at Newmarket, but you couldn’t get a more different test around this track. I reckon Berlin Tango has a better chance than the official ratings would have you believe. His Doncaster form, where he had the Tattersall Stakes winner Wichita just in front of him, looks strong to me and the step up in trip could suit after his second over 1m here in March.

3.20pm: Sir Roderic has been rated much higher than this in the past and he could make his presence felt off this mark; the trip and draw look fine. It is a very hard race to call but he could play a  leading role.

3.55pm: Billesdon Brook is obviously the class horse but she has a Group 1 7lb penalty to carry, so this won’t be easy for her. Nazeef is the one that I like. She looked very good at Newmarket in September and is well drawn and is less exposed than many of her rivals.

4.30pm: I rode Hieronymus on his debut and he has really came good on his final two starts, winning both here. He has gone up 14lb for that brace of victories, but he could well be up to completing the hat-trick.

5.05pm: Al Daiha is a consistent sort, is reasonably drawn and is just about my best guess in another very tight handicap. She is lightly raced and has only gone up a minimal amount in the handicap for two good efforts.

5.40pm: Perfect Symphony was another in consistent form before the lockdown, and he looks to have as good a chance as any in here.
