Luke Morris: “I have ridden him at home and he goes okay”

Luke Morris: “I have ridden him at home and he goes okay”

Unibet Racing|25 April 2019

Doncaster

5.10pm

Swordbill

He doesn’t appear to have run too badly over hurdles at Wetherby a fortnight or so ago, his first outing since December and one without his usual cheekpieces, and let’s hope he can return to his autumn form on the Flat, when he recorded a hat-trick and was just touched off at Lingfield afterwards. The headgear is back on here, the shorter trip will hopefully be okay, and it’s maybe just a matter of whether the handicapper has got him for now, as he went up 3lb for that Lingfield defeat.

5.45pm

Taxiwala

Archie obviously has his 2yos in great form – indeed, all of his horses seem to be running well – so let’s hope that Taxiwala is another winner for him. There is plenty of pace in his pedigree, and he will be sure to know his job. Obviously, this is a field full of newcomers though, many from top stables, so you can’t get too carried away, but I have ridden my horse at home and he goes okay.

6.15pm

Khaan

He has been beaten a long way in his two starts, and he clearly needs to improve a lot to even get into the shake-up here. Maybe the step back down to 7f will suit but he looks up against it on what we have seen so far.

6.45pm

Central City

This is a decent and very competitive handicap, but Central City comes  here in good form and has a solid chance. He went up 7lb for winning here in March but that was fair enough given the authority of the win and he ran well when third off this mark at Pontefract last time. He is vulnerable to a less exposed type such as Fujaira Prince but he has each-way claims. He is two from three around here, and ran well on the occasion he was beaten.

8.15pm

Master Matt

He is having just his sixth start, so hopefully there is more to come, and he has claims on his second at Yarmouth in October. He went up 2lb for that run but conditions will suit here and, like I said, he is lightly-raced and open to improvement.
