Luke Morris: “She could just relish this step up in trip”

Luke Morris|30 August 2019

Sandown

2.25pm

My Boy Sepoy

I haven’t ridden him before but there seems a lot to like about his chances, not least that he is two-from-two at the track. He has gone up 4lb for his win here last time but that looks fair enough, although this does look a pretty strong handicap.

3.00pm

Brassica

We thought a bit of her last season and she impressed me when she won at Beverley. The step up to a Group 3 race at Naas, won by Hermosa, proved beyond her next time, but she wasn’t disgraced at all. She clearly has a massive job on here, given her level of form so far and this opposition, but we think there is plenty of talent in there, and this will tell us more.

Lingfield

4.55pm

Licorice

I don’t know much about him at the moment but you have to respect any juvenile that Archie runs, and his stable is in great form. His pedigree suggests this trip should be fine for him on debut.

5.30pm

Koovers

He obviously hasn’t shown anything to date to suggest he will be winning this but, then again, it doesn’t look too strong a race and the step down to 6f could suit. And the headgear may, too.

6.00pm

Yvette

She showed her best form to date when fifth over 1m2f at Newcastle last time and this well-related filly could relish this big step up in trip, given the dam was a Group 2 winner and only just touched off in a Group 1 over this distance in France. A mark of 58 obviously gives her options, as do the first-time cheek pieces. She has definite chances.

6.30pm

Visionara

She followed up a near-miss at Chelmsford with a win over 7f here last time. The extra furlong shouldn’t be an issue, although a 7lb rise for that success was on the high side. She is clearly lightly-raced and unexposed, though, so she may overcome it.

7.00pm

Bolt N Brown

She didn’t run up to her best over 1m2f here last time but she ran well previously, and has a fair course-and-distance third to her name here. She has chances off this mark on her return to the all-weather.

7.30pm

Golden Deal

She didn’t run too well at Bath last time and is just out of the weights here, but she has had a break since that run in June and she has each-way claims on her earlier form over 7f and 1m at this track. This trip remains an unknown.
