2:40 Pertemps Final

Jeriko Du Reponet (Nico de Boinville)

He looked like he appreciated the step up to three miles at Exeter last time, and, while at the start of the season we weren’t expecting to be running in the Pertemps, we have found ourselves here, and he is still very unexposed. He has come on a lot for his latest effort, and the cheek pieces might just help him concentrate. There could still be room for manoeuvre off his handicap mark.

Shanagh Bob (Paul O’Brien)

He was a good second in a qualifier for this at Huntingdon, and I had to get another run into him at Warwick last time which was probably a little to quick after Huntingdon. He’s been freshened up nicely since then and the faster they go the better, because he’ll be doing all his best work late on.

Doddiethegreat (Brian Hughes)

I was very pleased with his effort at Haydock last time, on his first start at this trip, and we’re putting cheek pieces on to keep him sharp. He’s always been a high-class horse and I think he could be slipping under the radar here. I like him.

4:00 G1 Stayers’ Hurdle

Lucky Place (Nico de Boinville)

He’s unbeaten in both starts this season, and I was very impressed with his win in the Relkeel on New Year’s Day. We could have run in the Cleeve on Trials Day, but I didn’t see the point in giving him an unnecessarily hard race, so he comes here a nice fresh horse.

I can’t see any reason why he won’t get the trip because he’s an uncomplicated horse and just very easy to manage. This is quite an open division, and he comes into it with solid credentials.

5:20 Kim Muir

Fantastic Lady (J Hendrick)

She is a consistent, tough mare, who jumps and stays very well. It’s a typically competitive Kim Muir but she’s in great shape at home and goes on any ground.

Wiseguy (Josh Newman)

I thought he ran a very encouraging race at Ascot last time, when doing all his best work at the finish, which suggests the extra two furlongs here will very much suit.We’ve always thought a great deal of him and the manner of his Newbury victory in November proves he is a high-class horse.He’s owned by a great bunch of people and I think he’s more than capable of giving them a good run for their money.
