Nicky Henderson: “He’s well clear on ratings, he should go very, very close”

Nicky Henderson|8 December 2022

CHELTENHAM – FRIDAY

12:40

Attacca (Nico De Boinville)

I thought he was very good at Kempton on his hurdles debut where he warmed up nicely to finish the race well and he will have learnt plenty from that. This is another step in grade but he’s a person we like a lot and the stiff track will suit because he’s quite a big horse who may want further in time.

1:15

Mister Coffey (Nico De Boinville)

He’s been ready to run for quite some time but we’ve had to keep taking him out because of the ground and I would like it if there was more soft in the ground but we’re lucky to even have racing on so we have to accept the cards we’re dealt. He’s well clear on ratings and a reproduction of his second in the Kim Muir should be enough to see him go very, very close.

3:35

Dusart (Nico De Boinville)

He won three of his four races over fences last season but we sort of feel he has unfinished business over hurdles and this looked a good opportunity to kick off the season. We’ve tinkered with his wind and he likes good ground so has plenty in his favour. He’s always been a very smart horse and there is still plenty to come.

Captain Morgs (James Bowen)

For one reason or a another he keeps finding one or two too good, as we saw last time at Kempton when Call Me Lord beat him, which isn’t bad form considering what he did at Sandown last week! But Captain Morgs is a decent horse in his own right and he’ll like the step up in trip. The cheek pieces will help as well.

DONCASTER

2:45

Rathmacknee (Paul O’Brien)

He was running a very good race at Cheltenham last time but made a mistake at the last after being severely hampered which meant the saddle slipped so Nico had no choice but to ease him down which was very unfortunate because we fancied him to go quite well that day. He’s stepping back up in trip but has won a Point to Point so I’ve got no worries on that score and I think he could give his owners plenty of fun this season.
