Nico de Boinville: “He is the form horse on the best of his 2m exploits”

Nico de Boinville|11 April 2024

2.20pm Aintree

Jango Baie

He was also in the Sefton Hurdle later in the card but it makes sense to come here and let him take his chance off a mark of 139. That could prove be very workable based on his Grade 1 success at Aintree, as well as his subsequent seconds in the Sidney Banks and at Kelso last time. We could all do with it stopping raining, but he has handled testing ground pretty well so far.

3.30pm Aintree

Jonbon

He obviously won his point over 3m but this is his first attempt at 2m4f since joining us. Like a lot of our stars, he missed Cheltenham but we are very much looking forward to getting him out and seeing how he goes over this new trip. Obviously, that bad mistake was to blame for his defeat last time but he has won at this meeting for the last two years and he is the form horse on the best of his 2m exploits, as well as having had success on heavy ground. This looks a very good race though, so he will probably have to be at his best here.

4.05pm Aintree

Fantastic Lady

She handles heavy but we would probably have liked better ground for her. She ran a great race in this race when second last year, when racing off a 3lb lower mark, and she did okay on very deep going in the Sefton in November, so hopefully she can give me another great spin over these fences.

4.40pm Aintree

Shanagh Bob

Once again, he was a horse who bypassed Cheltenham, so at least you don’t have the question mark of whether a hard race at the Festival has left its mark. I loved this horse’s attitude when winning at Cheltenham last time, and at Plumpton previously as well, and I can see this test suiting him here. Hopefully, he is a horse who will continue to improve and progress as he gathers race experience.
