He obviously shaped with a lot of promise when third in a bumper at Newbury last November. He has been off a fair while and I would expect him to improve for the run, but he is a horse we like.

On The Blind Side

He has always been a very talented horse, and I definitely think he has the ability to figure off a mark of 149 here. He obviously ran a couple of disappointing races last season, but he is fairly handicapped on his Kempton win – where he beat the subsequent Bet365 Gold Cup winner Talkischeap – and a right-handed track on decent ground is perfect for him. And this is just his tenth start, and his fourth over fences, so hopefully we haven’t seen the best of him yet.

Felony

You never know what you are bumping into in a bumper but Felony has been shaping up well enough and he is a half-brother to Show Court, who won a Grade 1 hurdle in the States.

We were going to run him last Saturday but we took him out because of the ground. It should be far more to his liking here. Everything I said before the intended Cheltenham run – and it may be a blessing in disguise that he sidestepped that engagement as that track presents a stiff ask for first-time-out novice chasers – stands. He has schooled very well at home, and he was a good novice hurdler last season, winning at Kempton before disappointing a bit on his final start at the Festival, so the potential is certainly there for us to exploit over fences. I am looking forward to seeing what he can do in this sphere, as he looks a very nice prospect.
