On the form he showed for me when chasing home Emitom at Lingfield last winter, or his subsequent runs at Newbury and Exeter, then he would prove very hard to beat off a mark of 92 here. In fact, he would win. But, quite clearly, he hasn’t shown anything like that level of form in three starts this season and is more likely to finish last than first on those efforts. But 2m in these conditions are what he wants, so fingers crossed he can his show his 2019 best.

Stoney Mountain

He looks a great ride to pick up. He, unfortunately, unseated his rider on his chasing debut at Cheltenham last time but he had earlier been in great form over hurdles. He is 5lb higher than for winning at Haydock, but that was a very competitive handicap for a big pot, so you can’t argue with that rise. That run proved he is fully effective at this trip and we know he loves the ground, so let’s hope he still has more progression in him. He has also run two crackers on both starts here in the past, too.
