Richard Hannon: “Having Ollie Pears riding in the Leger Legends can only be a positive”

DONCASTER – WEDNESDAY

1:45 Nursery

Ardbraccan (Ryan Moore)

Realistically, I think she was a little bit outclassed in the Sweet Solera Stakes last time and she didn’t get the best of runs as well, but I was very happy with her at Goodwood the time before where she wasn’t beaten all that far and a reproduction of that effort would see he bang there. She’s very much at her best of top of the ground and the forecast looks good so she goes there with plenty in her favour and I think she’ll be very competitive.

2:20 Maiden

Shabab (Ryan Moore)

He improved for the step up to a mile at Goodwood last month and is getting better with each run. This looks a very hot Maiden but the experience he has will be put to good use and his work has always been to a very good standard so I’m hopeful he won’t be far away.

2:50 Leger Legends

Sunset (Ollie Pears)

He can be a little lazy but has plenty of ability and was unlucky not to win at Lingfield on his penultimate start when just getting edged out under Sean Levey. But today he has the services of Ollie Pears which can only be a positive and we’re putting on the blinkers to help them both concentrate so with a bit of luck they’ll have a nice spin and finish closer to the front than the back!
