Morcar (Alec Voikhansky)

I think a mile and a quarter on quickish ground suits him best, and this type of track might suit him. The handicapper isn’t taking any chances, but he ran a nice race last time and is in good shape.

Nightime Dancer (Sean Levey)

The form of his Southwell win has worked out quite nicely, and there’s a strong line between him and Rahiebb through Renato, and he’s already beaten Our ‘enery, so there’s plenty to like, and while we don’t have too many Derby contenders, those that have run have been decent, and he gets the trip well; in fact, he could be even better over further. He’s by a stallion who is fast becoming a top sire (Ghaiyyath), especially for these middle-distance horses. We are putting him in the deep end, but I think he can cope with it.

 

ASCOT

Arjack (Pat Dobbs)

He’s a gentleman and a smart colt by Ardad, who is doing everything right at home, and we like him. He had a few entries early on in the season, but he hasn’t come in his coat, so we left him off. Whether he’s quite ready to win first time out, time will tell, but he has plenty of ability and should go well, although it’s a typically good Ascot race.

Witch Hunter (Joe Leavy)

He loves seven furlongs at Ascot and, apart from last time, he’s never been out of the places when he’s raced at this track. The Handicapper has dropped him a couple of pounds and Joe takes off a valuable 3 lbs, so he’s entitled to run a nice race.

Houstonn (Pat Dobbs)

He likes good ground and starts the season on a reasonably workable mark. He’s only ever ran over this trip once before, but that was on soft ground, so we’re giving it another go on this surface, and if he’s fully tuned up, I can see him putting up a bold show.

Signcastle City (Sam Hitchcott)

I was delighted with his first run back at Lingfield last time, and I think he’s come on a lot for it. He’s been nudged up another pound, but he’s in good shape and has every chance back over his optimum trip.
