Well Done Fox (Silvestre de Sousa)

He’s a colt with a lot of ability who has a lot of speed as his victory over course and distance last July will testify. There’s been plenty of rain around which is a slight concern but he will definitely strip fitter for his first run at Ascot and his work has been very good so I’d expect him to go close.

 

3:50 Handicap

Pesto (Tom Marquand)

We pulled him out of Haydock last week due to the heavy ground so I have to admit I’m a little worried about the conditions here too so we’ll just wait and see but he got better with each run last season and ended his two year old campaign with an easy win at Leicester so I’m quite looking forward to seeing what he can achieve this year. I think he’s matured plenty over the winter and come back a much stronger horse. He’s into Handicap Company for the first time and who knows whether his mark off 87 is fair but I’ve been happy with his work and if he handles the ground he should have a good chance.

Magical Wish (Hollie Doyle)

He’s one of four runners in the race for Middleham Park Racing so hopefully one of them will do the job for their enthusiastic owners. He ran very well over 7f at the same track last time which would give him a real chance in this and, despite there being lots of rain around, the course drains well so hopefully it wont be too bad and I can see him with solid each way claims at 20/1 with Unibet.

Wedding Date (Clifford Lee)

We’ve kept her pretty busy and she was going to run at The Curragh last week but couldn’t due to a ‘technicality’ so she’s back out again and Clifford gets on well with her. I’m not sure if the ground is really in her favour but York drains well so hopefully it won’t be too testing and a reproduction of her win over the course two starts ago would see her in with a shout, but she’ll have to improve to win off 87.

2:20 Novice Stakes

Divine Covey (Pat Dobbs)

She’s from a family we know well as we trained the dam, Pack Together, who was by Paco Boy so hopefully she’ll inherit some of her grand sire’s ability! She went off odds on at Sandown last month but I think the ground was much too quick as her sire Dark Angel relished soft ground so conditions here should be ideal and she has definitely improved at home since that first run. It looks an open race but I fancy her to be bang there.

 

3:30 Handicap

Wahash (Pat Dobbs)

He’s gradually coming down the weights which is about time as he’s been struggling of late, although he did win on the All Weather in March 2018 off 94 so this race could be perfect for him. On current form it’s hard to be confident but there are plenty of other out of form horses in this so I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him bounce back.

Enchanted Linda (Thore Hammer-Hansen)

She’s a very tough and speedy filly with a likeable attitude who is extremely consistent. I thought she was unlucky not to win at Bath last time in a first time hood, which we’re retaining, and her form is more than good enough to win this. That said I am very worried about the ground.

 

Next Tuesday sees the start of the biggest week of the year for all of us involved in flat racing and we’ll have a good team of horses representing us at Royal Ascot. Threat is colt who I absolutely love and his work his been exceptional. He’ll take his chance in the Coventry on the first day and I’m very hopeful. Fox Champion is a big price at 33/1 with Unibet to win the St James’s Palace Stakes and while he’s got to improve, he could be up to it and I’m looking forward to seeing how far up the ladder he can go.
