Richard Hannon: “The ground is absolutely perfect for Snow Lantern in the Prix Du Moulin”

Prix Du Moulin

SNOW LANTERN (Sean Levey)

I’m very, very happy with her and she’s proven she can go left handed around a bend, as we saw at Goodwood last time, and I think she’ll absolutely love the track. There aren’t many runners so there won’t be a lot of rough and tumble and while it’s a very good race, as it should be, she’s in better than great nick and if this doesn’t work out and we get beaten by a better horse then so be it, we can come back to Fillies’ only races and run in the Sun Chariot at Newmarket later in the month. There are a few showers forecast this afternoon but the ground is still Good to Soft which will be absolutely perfect for her.

DONCASTER

We’re looking forward to sending plenty of runners up to Doncaster next week and it’s highly likely that Lusail will run in the G2 Champagne Stakes. He’s come out of York in excellent shape and it’s a race we have a good record in so I’m looking forward to stepping him back up in trip.

Armor, who won on debut at the track, will go for the Flying Childers and then of course we’ve got Mojo Star in the St Leger itself. He had a nice confidence boosting win at Newbury last month which has done him the world of good and he goes there with the best chance we’ve probably ever had in the Leger.

OTHER NEWS

In other news, Gubbass will head to Newbury in two weeks time for the Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes and im pleased to report that Gisburn is on the comeback trail and will hopefully be ready for some of the big autumn two-year-old races.

We have decided to finish Ehraz for the season and bring him back for next year. Something wasn’t right in the Acomb but he’s a damn sight better than what he showed there so we’ll give him a nice long break and look forward to a nice three-year-old campaign with him.

Chindit was extremely unlucky in the Celebration Mile last week and who knows what might have happened had he got a clear run, but he’s come out of in in fine form and there’s a strong possibility that he could head down under and run in the Golden Eagle at Rosehill on 30th October. It’s worth a whopping AUS$7.5 million and Beat Le Bon picked up a massive purse for finishing sixth a couple of years ago so it’s definitely worth heading down for.
