Richard Hannon: “The track and trip will suit, and she’s fit and well so would have a decent chance”

Red Starlight (Tom Marquand)

She’s run twice at Ascot, finishing third and then second, so I’m hoping she can go another place better this time and get her head back in front after two good efforts so far this season. The Handicapper has kept her on 100 so I’m not sure how much room for manoeuvre there is off that mark, but the track and trip will suit, and she’s fit and well so would have a decent chance back against her own sex.

Aim Power (Silvestre De Sousa)

We’re going up to a mile but I think she’ll stay and she’s a filly I really like. She wintered really well and has grown plenty too, so I’d be quietly confident of a bold show. I’ve been very happy with her work and I think she’d have a great chance off bottom weight.

Qaysar (Tom Marquand)

I think he found a mile on fast ground at Nottingham against him last time, so he’ll be much happier on better ground going back down to seven. We’ve always liked him and while you can never be confident in a race like this, there will be of pace on which will suit, and he is definitely over priced at 25/1.

Endowed (Silvestre De Sousa)

He’s a very smart colt by Dark Angel who has done everything we’ve asked of him at home. It’s only a small field but you’d have to look at Roger Varian’s and Godolphin’s as the ones to worry about, but our horse has plenty of ability and he won’t be far away.

Big Baby Bull (Rossa Ryan)

He would have needed his first run at Sandown and to be honest I’m not convinced he stayed the trip there so we’re going back down to a mile and with that run under his belt, I think he’d have a massive chance here. He’s got a good draw and we’ll make plenty of use of him.

War Glory (Ryan Moore)

On the whole he’s very consistent but all three wins have come on the All Weather, so we’ll see what he can do here. The Handicapper has dropped him a few pounds and as long as the ground doesn’t come up too soft, I believe he could be quite competitive in this race.

Regimented (Thore Hansen)

He’s down to a career low handicap mark and hasn’t won for a while but he will definitely be sharper for that first run at Chelmsford and with Thore’s 5lb claim he could go well off his featherweight.

Alhakmah (Ryan Moore)

It’s been a bit of a struggle with her as she had a setback after finishing second at Newbury last August, so we had to put her away but she’s a filly we have always really liked as she has plenty of ability and she will have come on plenty for her first run at Nottingham the other day. The drop back to 6f should also suit and I think she has an outstanding chance in this.

Come On Leicester (Andrew Mullen)

She’s got some smart form and is quite versatile ground-wise. This looks a tough race but she’s in good form and it would be nice to get some Black Type with her. We’re hopeful rather than confident but she should run a decent race on a track that will suit her.

Glory (Pat Dobbs)

He’s run two good races this season and the Handicapper is gradually giving him some leeway. I think the step back up to a mile will be in his favour and he deserves to get his head in front. There are others with perhaps more obvious claims but he’s a likeable horse who tries hard so could easily go well here.
