Threat

Coventry Stakes  

Any Richard Hannon newcomer that wins on debut is usually well above average and Threat was especially taking when winning a Class 3 Maiden from a well fancied Godolphin runner on 1000 Guineas Day. The plan has always been to come straight here and the trainer absolutely loves his charge. A huge loser in our book, but we'll be delighted for Unibet ambassador Richard if he does take the spoils!

WEDNESDAY

 

New Graduate

Royal Hunt Cup  

New Graduate is the handicap gamble of the week and he runs in the Hunt Cup on Wednesday. An unexposed type for a seriously in form James Tate, the son of New Approach couldn't have been any more impressive on his seasonal re-appearance – just his fourth career start and handicap debut. He's up a whopping 15lbs for that but must be showing something at home because the sustained support we've seen for him makes him the biggest loser in the book on the second day of Royal Ascot.

 

THURSDAY

 

Stradivarius

Ascot Gold Cup  

Stradivarius is the big loser for us on the third day of the Royal meeting. He's a horse that needs no introduction following on from the perfect season he had last year, including when winning this very race, and he seems to be the 'shortie' banker for punters this year. John Gosden will have his charge primed to defend his title against a host of new challengers and our traders will be hoping one of them can serve it up to the son of Sea The Stars!

 

FRIDAY

 

Japan

Edward VII Stakes  

Japan was flying home in the Derby and actually managed to reward each-way backers with a third, and he is the best backed horse on the whole of Royal Ascot Friday at the moment. His rider actually dropped his whip in the 1m4f Classic at Epsom and the support would indicate he's set to represnt Coolmore in a race they won last year, whilst many of their others from Epsom could go to the Irish Derby instead. A solid play from our punters, some of whom who have some rather nice looking prices!

 

SATURDAY

 

Gunmetal

Wokingham Stakes  

Interestingly our biggest loser on the last day of Royal Ascot is another in a huge field handicap. Gunmetal has been eye-catching on both his starts this season, most notably when flying home latest, and has shown a penchant for big field handicaps in the past. We were a standout 40/1 about David Barron's charge for an extended period and punters who fancied the 6yo have got stuck in at fancy odds with us. He's now quite a bit shorter as the race nears but it's still wide open so whilst shrewd punters will be pleased with their position, our traders are still confident of getting this one beat!
