The Wine Tipster: “He is having his sixth career start and this nice type can secure his third victory”

The Wine Tipster|1 May 2025

DAY one of the three-day Guineas Festival at the home of flat racing on the Rowley Mile will be warm and dry, with the forecast looking similar on Saturday for the 2000 Guineas, the first three-year-old classic.

The 1000 Guineas on Sunday will be run in cooler conditions, with at the time of writing on Thursday morning a very slight amount of rainfall forecast that day, so overall the forecast looks really good for the Guineas Festival.

The Rowley Mile is one of my favourite courses and I’m looking forward to three days of excellent racing.

Enjoy whether at Newmarket or watching #athome on ITV Racing and Racing TV.

Cheers,

The Wine Tipster

1:45 Newmarket – Nyetimber Newmarket Stakes Listed (1m 2f)

Nebras won on debut on the Rowley Mile last September and then didn’t run his race at Doncaster in the Futurity. Nebras on seasonal debut at Southwell really should have won when second to Arctic Grey last month and he can show much better form back at the Rowley Mile upped in trip.

2:20 Newmarket – Trustatrader King Charles II Stakes Listed (7f)

Marvelman should keep improving as the season goes on and he gets more of a trip, but for the time being this 7f will do, and he impressed when coming right away from his field at Kempton last time, making every yard and never stronger than in the last half-furlong. Marvelman looks sure to be ridden with the same tactics as Kempton and he has strong each way claims.

2:55 Newmarket – Handicap (1m)

Best Rate (nap) trained by Unibet Ambassador Richard Hannon looked far from the finished project when third at Kempton last time out, taking plenty of time to hit top speed but by that point the winner had gone, and he had to settle for third. His previous form is working out well, however, and as he learns and gets fitter this season he should pick up some nice prizes. On a fair mark here and can make it count.

Unibet 13/2 each way

3:30 Newmarket – Handicap (7f)

Fifty Nifty ran at the Craven Meeting and was certainly well-backed when going off at 5/4 and he ran well to finish second to Ten Pounds beaten only a neck. I was at the meeting that day and you sense there is plenty of expectation for the season ahead with Fifty Nifty, whose penultimate run last August resulted in a win on the July course.

He is having his sixth career start and this nice type can secure his third victory ahead of an exciting campaign.
