The Wine Tipster: “This genuine individual has the class to run a big race”

The Wine Tipster|17 June 2022

THE final day of what has been a brilliant Royal Ascot 2022 and today there is a fascinating Plantinum Jubilee Stakes Group 1 to look forward to as well as a typically competitive Wokingham Stakes.

Enjoy this fantastic card whether at #RoyalAscot2022 or watching #athome on ITV Racing.

Cheers

The Wine Tipster

3.05 Ascot – Jersey Stakes (7f)

Monaadah has raced only over this trip on his three career starts. On debut he won on turf in Meydan and has followed up with two all-weather successes, including on his latest appearance when beating Audience (reopposes today), who was in receipt of six pounds. That was a good performance and Monaadah has been well placed here by Saeed Bin Suroor as he is definitely progressive.

3.40 Ascot – Hardwicke Stakes Group 2 (1m 4f)

Solid Stone has been supplemented for the Hardwicke and whilst Hurricane Lane is the worthy favourite Sir Michael Stoute’s charge has each way claims at least. Solid Stone beat Certain Lad at Chester last month after a break and will come on for that run. At the end of last season Solid Stone had two Group 3 successes and this genuine individual has the class to run a big race.

4.20 Ascot – Platinum Jubilee Stakes Group 1 (6f)

Home Affairs for trainer Chris Waller, who won with the brilliant Nature Strip in the King’s Stand Stakes on Tuesday, can follow up with another Group 1.Home Affairs beat his stablemate Nature Strip over five furlongs when winning in February and then was caught in the wrong group when finishing unplaced last time out. This Australian challenger has settled in well as seen by the racecourse gallops and has the class to win over this stiff six furlongs for his fifth career success.

Unibet 7/4

Minzaal has good Ascot form, having finished second to Tis Marvellous over five furlongs last October and then on Champions Day third to Creative Force (reopposes today) after dwelling at the start. Minzall will step up from his seasonal debut in a Group 2 at York when third behind a rival today, Highfield Princess. Minzaal has a strong each way chance.

5.00 Ascot – Wokingham Stakes (Heritage Handicap) (6f)

Blackrod (nap) looked as good as ever when winning in April at Newmarket in a 19 runner handicap. That was only start this year and with form figures of 2113-1 on his last five starts this four-year-old will be ready to run a big race from stall 25 for his trainer Michael Dods.

Unibet 8/1 each way

Gulliver was second in the Unibet Stewards’ Cup last year and ran well to finish third on seasonal debut at York to Asjad last month. This eight-year-old hasn’t been seen since and has good each way claims from stall 6. Interestingly his trainer was successful with another eight-year-old Out Do in 2017.

Unibet 20/1 each way

Prince Lancelot drawn in stall 18 is worth an each way wager on the back of his Listed success at Chantilly last month, which was his best career performance to date. He was following up on his victory in April and if he handles the quick ground (sire Sir Prancelot won on good to firm) this four-year-old can run a big race for Fabrice Chappet.
