Dortmund had won their last seven Bundesliga games before that defeat and are still 1.55 to beat Monchengladbach. Those would be smart odds if they were facing anyone but Borussia or Munich. For Monchengladbach have been in stellar form and are a great bet to win this game at 5.60.

Christmas could not come sooner for Munich. It’s been a messy first half to the season where three league defeats have hampered their title challenge. But this Munich side is ageing and the relentless pace coming up to Christmas may impact them on Saturday.

Munich scraped to a 1-0 win over Leipzig on Wednesday — a triumph that, while vital, exposed some flaws. Munich struggled to create chances despite their domination of possession and the lack of flair up front is bothering them. The injury to Serge Gnabry is another major worry.

As for Frankfurt, they are one of the Bundesliga surprise packages this season. They sit fifth in the table and could leapfrog Leipzig by the end of the weekend. Sitting in the Champions League places for Christmas would be testament to manager Aid Hutter’s work this term — especially when balancing Europa League commitments too.

Wins over Leipzig and Frankfurt – plus a draw with Hoffenheim – have hauled Wolfsburg back into European contention.

They play an Augsburg team on Sunday who are plummeting down the table. Augsburg may well be going down this season. The relegation battle may envelop them by the weekend, leaving to plenty of worries hanging over the Christmas holidays. Augsburg are winless in seven games (D3 L4) and are a point off the relegation zone. Such a crisis has led to football betting fans fleeing the side.

Wolfsburg are a great price at 2.80 to win this match. Granted they’re away from but Augsburg have shown nothing to inspire confidence in backing them.
