Italian football hosts a round of midweek matches on Tuesday and Wednesday — and all eyes are on the title chasers.

Juve and Inter have raced ahead of the pack and there could be a battle for superiority in Serie A that lasts all season.

But that doesn’t mean we won’t see an upset here. After all, Juve have laboured in recent games and are certainly vulnerable in defence. They scraped a 4-3 win over Napoli, were held 2-2 with Atl Madrid in the Champions League and Fiorentina recently shut them down to a goalless draw.

Yes, Juve have the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Aaron Ramsey to call upon with the goals. But they won’t necessarily have it all their own way on Tuesday. Juve are 1.44 to win — and at this price they’re not worth backing. But both teams to score at 1.80 is a very tempting bet.

Roma vs Atalanta — Wednesday, 25 September at 18:00 BST

Roma’s unbeaten start to the season is under threat on Wednesday night as Atalanta come to town. Roma have enjoyed a strong start to the season and come into this game on the back of a three-match winning streak. That includes Sunday’s 2-1 result at Bologna snatched by Edin Dzeko’s strike in the last minute.

Atalanta are also on a high after impressing in their first Champions League group game last midweek. They drew 2-2 with Fiorentina on Sunday and will be optimistic of pushing Roma hard here on Wednesday.

These sides drew 3-3 in both league fixtures against each other last season — and that is a good indication of how this match may play out. Both are wiling to gun forward with confidence, so expect goals form both teams here.

Inter vs Lazio — Wednesday, 25 September at 20:00 BST

And Inter’s price of 1.98 to claim victory is very good indeed. Inter beat rivals Milan 2-0 at the weekend and have generally punched their way to routine victories this season. Another one is certainly possible as Conte’s side begins to take shape with every game that passes.

Lazio are fifth in the table and responded from a Europa League defeat to Cluj last Thursday by beating Parma 2-0 at the weekend. That was a particularly special result to end a three-game losing streak.

Lazio will offer strong resistance against Inter but punters can expect the San Siro side to run out victors in the end. A 2-0 result is priced at 10.00.
