Tennis live stream and betting from Barcelona Open on Nadal, Thiem and Nishikori

Tennis live stream and betting from Barcelona Open on Nadal, Thiem and Nishikori

Unibet UK|17 April 2019

Rafael Nadal is the hot favourite to win the Barcelona Open as the Spaniard continues his clay season.

Nadal was a shock semi-final loser in the Monte Carlo Masters last week and has his eyes firmly on the Barcelona title here.

And you can watch and bet on the biggest matches during the Barcelona Open right here with Unibet!

To live stream tennis and bet in-play on the best matches simply sign up or log in to your Unibet account today.

Nadal is the pre-tournament favourite to win the title — but there are some other big names competing here.

So who are the best players to bet on?

Nadal favourite

So Nadal is the strong favourite to win the Barcelona Open this year. And it’s not hard to see why. The Spaniard has won a staggering 11 titles here in Catalonia. That includes each of the past three years, where he has dominated the field.

Nadal has beaten three of the big names in this year’s competition during previous finals. In 2016 he edged Kei Nishikori, in 2017 it was Dominic Thiem and last year he ousted Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-2 6-1 in a comfortable final triumph.

This year sees Nadal kick off his tournament against Argentine Leandro Mayer in the second round. Nadal is 1.04 to win that match, which takes place on Wednesday, April 24. You can live stream Nadal and bet in-play on the match here with Unibet!

Assuming Nadal beats Mayer, he will likely play Lucas Pouille in the third round and then has a projected quarter-final against Tsitsipas. Both Thiem and Nishikori could wait even later in the tournament — so this is not going to be an easy week for Nadal.

Best outside bets

Nishikori seems the obvious choice if you’re seeking a good tennis bet on an outsider here. The Japanese sensation is seeded fourth in Barcelona and therefore avoids Nadal until the final.

Even better, he has a reasonable route to the quarter-finals, where he is projected to face Monte Carlo winner Fabio Fognini. Now, the Italian is flying his after his Masters 1000 triumph last weekend but burn-out may soon become a problem on the energy-sapping Spanish clay.

If you don’t want to side with Nishikori, then Russia’s Daniil Medvedev has an easier route to the quarter-finals than his seeding of seventh suggests. Medvedev doesn’t have a wild card in his section of the draw or a dominant clay expert. He reached the semi-finals of Monte Carlo last weekend and has had a reasonable 2019 to date.
