Tennis live stream and betting from WTA Charleston Open

Tennis is back for another week and while many players take time off from the Miami Open, a number have headed to Charleston for this WTA Premier event.

There are some big names competing in Charleston this week, with Sloane Stephens, Kiki Bertens and Caroline Wozniacki all in action.

Kiki Bertens has shot up the WTA rankings over the past 12 months — largely thanks to triumphs like this in Charleston back in 2018.

The Dutch star rumbled Julia Garces 6-2 6-1 in the 2018 Charleston final, and also upset Madison Keys and Alize Cornet on her route to victory.

Now, Bertens has not exactly flourished during the Sunshine Swing of the WTA tour this year. Early defeats at Indian Wells and Miami have set back the 27-year-old somewhat.

But Bertens was arguably unlucky with her draw in both tournaments and this week – in Charleston – the draw is more in her favour.

Bertens is seeded second and faces Italy’s Martina Trevisan in the second round on Wednesday morning (01:15 BST). Her toughest prospective opponent is Caroline Wozniacki in the quarters — and even then Bertens has won her last two matches against the Dane.

Stephens an excellent price

Bertens may be the favourite in the tennis betting odds, but Sloane Stephens is a great price at 11.00 to win the title. The No 1 seed has a largely straightforward path to the quarterfinal, where she is projected to meet Madison Keys — a player Stephens has a W3 L0 record over.

Now, Stephens has not had a good time of it in the USA of late. A first-round Indian Wells exit was followed by a second-round crash out of Miami. But the 26-year-old is worth backing here on her price alone.

Very rarely do you get a No 1 seed — with a favourable draw — at 11.00. And remember, you can always bet against her later on in the tournament if you feel this won’t be her week!
