Tennis live stream and betting tips – Open Sud de France

Close matches in round one

The Open Sud de France gets underway on Monday and already there are some close matches to be followed. The four top seeds don’t enter until the second round — but there are still plenty of big names to bet and watch on the tennis live stream.

Marcel Granollers kicks it all off at 15:00 GMT against Ivo Karlovic, who is the 1.46 favourite to win this tie. You can live stream tennis from Unibet and bet on all the action in-play. Karlovic boasts a 3-1 winning record over Granollers and his only defeat came because he retired injured.

Yet Granollers has pushed Karlovic to a final set in their other three encounters, so expect this to reach three sets at 2.23.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is also up on Monday against Ugo Humbert. At 1.32, Tsonga is the clear favourite but his form has been disappointing of late. Wild card Humbert, 20, is tipped as one for the future and made his Australian Open debut last month. He is well priced at 3.45.

And on Tuesday Ernests Gulbis (1.97) vs Hubert Hurkacz (1.85) is the closest match of the day. A smart punter would follow this match to see how the odds fluctuate and hope it goes to a third set. Hurkacz has enjoyed wins on the Challenger circuit already this season — claiming the Canberra title — and is not to be overlooked here!

Remember, first-round matches are being played on Monday and Tuesday this week, before the top four seeds enter the tournament on Wednesday!

Open Sud de France title bets

So who will win the Open Sud de France title? It’s fair to say the top four seeds are the favourites. Lucas Pouille won this tournament last year for the first time, beating Richard Gasquet 7-6 6-4. Now, Gasquet is not here this year and Pouille heads into Montpellier having reached the Australian Open semi-finals last month.

He was swept away by eventual winner Novak Djokovic in three sets. But Pouille proved his mettle on the Australian hard courts and is well fancied to do the same in France this week.

Belgium’s David Goffin is Pouille’s main rival for the title. The 28-year-old endured a largely miserable Australian Open where he crashed out in the third round to Daniil Medvedev. Now, Goffin has at least won a title this season — the Qatar doubles alongside Pierre-Hughes Herbert. But in reality he is out of form and not worth backing here.

Instead, Denis Shapovalov is the man to look for as a possible title contender. The third-seed is a wild card here due to his late entry. Shapovalov is desperate for form and is in the latter half of the Montpellier draw, where his most dangerous projected opponent is Goffin. But with Goffin also playing doubles in the Open Sud de France, Shapovalov will be fresher if these men meet in the semis.
