Arsenal v Manchester United live stream and betting – Friday, 25 January

Man Utd form can continue

Manchester United have won seven straight games under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and this is possibly his biggest test to date. Yes, United beat Tottenham at Wembley earlier this month but maintaining winning form against an Arsenal side desperate for a win over their rivals will be tricky.

Solskjaer has instilled confidence back into his side and that’s why United are 2.65 underdogs to win this game. Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard are currently playing with a spring in their step. And that’s what United fans have been crying out for for years.

Solskjaer effectively has a free hit as manager here, with the Norwegian then set to head back to Molde at the end of the season. So why wouldn’t he go for a trophy? The FA Cup has already seen Liverpool limp out and more giants will likely fall in the early rounds.

Sanchez return

This could well be the moment Alexis Sanchez’s Manchester United career takes off or fizzles out. The Chilean controversially left Arsenal for United last January, signing a £350,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford.

But he has scored just four goals since then and looked a shadow of his former self. Sanchez laboured under former manager Jose Mourinho and has not exactly done the business for Solskjaer either.

But in this Cup competition, under the lights at Arsenal, Sanchez will have to show his mettle. Should he score, it could propel him to more starts and breed confidence — something the Chile international is desperately lacking.

But a lacklustre performance in north London could spell the end of Sanchez’s United career. He is an expensive asset to be sat on the bench and United could look to shift him on in the next transfer window.

Both teams to score

Only twice in the past 10 games between Arsenal and Manchester United have one of the sides kept a clean sheet. Arsenal shut out United at the Emirates in October 2015 and May 2017. But the trend for both of these teams is to score against the other.

Arsenal and United drew 2-2 when these sides met at Old Trafford in December. That was a furiously fast-paced game with both sides hitting back fast after they had conceded.

And football betting fans watching this match can expect another flurry. Arsenal have been woeful in defence over the past few weeks and United will certainly fancy their chances of scoring. But manager Unai Emery will name his strongest possible side for this fixture — and United’s defence has been exposed at times during Solskjaer’s short reign.

Both teams to score is priced at 1.56. A 2-2 draw is available at 11.50.
