Bohemians were in rhapsody but what do the Golden Globes mean for Oscars?

THE Golden Globes is now in its 76th year, and the cheeky rascal shows no signs of growing old gracefully as another night of shocks rocks a night seen as many as one of the firmest indicators of Oscar glory.

The accolades for excellence in TV and film achievement are bestowed by 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association the day before the Oscar nominations voting begins and its thought that many members of the academy may have their opinions swayed by yesterday’s results.

A Star is Born was the overwhelming favourite for the Best Picture award, but Bohemian Rhapsody, the rank outsider, got the win! The biographical movie about the rock band Queen and their genius frontman Freddie Mercury's life was such a smash hit that Rami Malek, who plays Freddie, also won Best Actor.

ALL JAMES BOND BETTING

Speaking of actors, there was an awkward moment as the event planners decided to seat Idris Elba next to Daniel Craig. The British star of hits such as Luther, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Avengers: Infinity War, and Molly's Game is hotly tipped to be the next James Bond,   

Just these two awards alone will have ramifications throughout the whole of the Oscars. Take Roma, for instance: the Netflix film won Best Foreign Film last night and given just how badly A Star is Born fared, now must be considered a player in the Best Picture category.

So, let’s take a look at yesterday’s results and see what’s 'hot or not' in the race for the Oscars.
