Easy Tips & Tricks to Crush Your Poker Opponents

Even though you have lots of poker experience and have read each and every online poker article and book out there, none of this would be useful unless you follow the simple and easy poker tips below.

Tip 1: Don’t consume alcohol during gameplay

Money will still flow in whichever direction, either because you were lucky, someone else was unlucky or through your opponent’s mistakes. Drinking alcohol reduces severely your ability to make rational and logical decisions and that’s a huge issue if you’re looking to make money from your online poker game. Always make sure to have a clear mind when you go into a session.

Tip 2: Copy the Benchmark

Keep an eye on the player who is winning all the money and scrutinize their play. What are they doing to win more and ultimately copy them. Check video’s online to learn from better players, do not only check how they play a hand, also try and understand why they play the hand like that. There is a lot of information out there, it is up to you to make the most out of that.

Tip 3: Create an online poker strategy

Take notes of the player who is much better than you and then strategize. These plans will become the foundation of your play. Try it out, use it as an experiment and see what works and what doesn’t.

Continue playing whilst paying attention, taking more notes and then adjusting your strategy accordingly.

Tip 4: Create a poker group

Find players who play the same game of you (tournaments, S&Gs, cash, and around the same stake), create a group and speak to each other. Discuss hands you found difficult to play, discuss changes happening on the tables and how to adjust to those. If you are a tight player also get a more aggressive player in the group (and vice versa), discuss when it is optimal to be tight and when it is better to be aggressive.  Do you see a player winning who you think plays bad? Discuss it and see if he was just lucky or did he actually have a strategy that worked? It can be helpful to have a few people in the same position, you can grow to a new level together, and of course motivate each other.

Tip 5: Fold when you have to

One of the biggest mistakes many online poker make is to compete for every pot without a care for hand ranking. Players need to drop the ego and to start reducing their starting hand range to increase their win-rate.

Once you do that, you will start being viewed as a solid poker player by your opponents.
