Established way back in 1840, the Queen Anne Stakes is a Group 1 race open to horses aged four years or older. The mile long showcase takes place on the opening day of the Royal Ascot meeting and is named in honour of Queen Anne, the founder of Ascot Racecourse.
Last year it was one of the best milers on the flat circuit, Palace Pier, who triumphed at short odds to land his fourth career Group 1 success and other notable winners in recent years include Goldikova and Canford Cliffs.
